Four bold alphabets: serif, sans and italic
Unicode encodes bold letters four times over, all in the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block: with and without serifs, upright and italic. They look alike at a glance but behave a little differently, which is worth knowing before you pick one for a name. Bold is the most widely supported of our fancy text styles.

Why Unicode bold is not the same as Ctrl+B
Pressing Ctrl+B tells an editor to draw the same letters thicker; that instruction is lost the moment you paste into a plain-text field. Unicode bold swaps each letter for a different character that is already bold, so the look travels with the text into bios, captions, comments and game names.
The trade-off is that these characters were made for mathematics. Search boxes may not match 𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐝 when someone types “bold”, and screen readers can announce each letter as “mathematical bold capital B”. Use bold for a headline word or a name, not for whole paragraphs.
Where bold text works: Discord, Instagram and CODM
Whether bold text survives depends on the field, not on the generator. A username field usually accepts only plain letters, while a display name or bio accepts almost any Unicode character up to a length limit.
